    OWIE!

My husband had his shoulder replaced in November of 2008. He is doing well with his physical therapy and has a lot of mobility back. I think he feels much better now.

I guess it probably doesn't look like it from this photo with the staples. Of course they are long gone and this is healed.

    shoulder replacement 002

This is what his shoulder looks like now. The socket is made from a clear plastic so it doesn't show up in the x-rays. Thanks Dr. Mike.

Of course after that in December he had a pulmonary embolism and DVT and was in the hospital for a week. So now he has a filter near his heart that will come out on February 25th. Hopefully this will be the last hospital visit for him for a long time.

    Git along little dogies.......

Cattle rustling is alive and well in Missouri. Here is a snippet from a newspaper article about 10 days ago. "Law officers are looking for thieves who made off with 53 head of cattle from a Christian County farm over the weekend."

These missing cows are cross-bred Brahma weighing 1100 to 1250 pounds. How do you steal 53 cows that weigh up to 1250 pounds? You have a big operation I guess.  The brand is an S turned sideways with a straight line running underneath the arch of the S-curve. They take these things to auction and sell them. Last time I heard of this it was 2 teenage boys they caught. They would steal just  a couple and take them to a livestock auction. I blogged about this in here a year or more ago. I guess it's a good thing they don't hang you for this anymore.

Does it just irk anyone else that Xanga insists that you are reading a book instead of watching a movie or DVD? For example the movie "Collision Course"  in the below post makes no mention of the real stars of the movie,  Jay Leno and Pat Morita. It is such a funny movie I recommend it to anyone.

Happy Birthday to my brother Fred! He turned 70 on Saturday. One of those people you would never know by looking or talking to him. Love You!

    Green thumb..............

I'ts getting that time again and I can't wait. This gray weather depresses me to no end. I think I better move to a greener climate before I waste away. So now I'm getting ready to make my own green. I had a little garden last summer that I didn't even have to water because we had so much rain. As summer wound down I decided I wanted to plant some spinach. Realizing I had no seed I went on a quest which lead nowhere. I couldn't find spinach in any seed rack and it was to late to order it.

While shopping in Westlake's Ace Hardware the other day guess what I came across! Brand new seed ready for 2009.

Of course I couldn't buy just one pack of seed I had to find two. I have never planted Rosemary before but I love the way it smells.

Now I get to bring dirt inside my house and start seeds. A little potting soil never hurt anything right? I have been waiting for a few warm days so my soil can thaw out in the old chicken house which is now my garden shed. We had a few sunny days which lifted my spirits a little bit, but not enough to get me really going. So playing in the dirt will be therapy for a while.

    What's your therapy?

    Catching Up.............

There are so many things that have not made it here and now it is time to get rolling. One of the many important events that happened last year that I neglected to post was the graduation from college of my beautiful daughter.

This kid worked full time, went to school full time, and has a family too. I don't know how she did it but she earned an Associate's and a Bachelor's in 5 years. I don't have to tell you she worked her but off for this. So now her life will be forever different. She had a good job when she began and now has an even better one. I am so proud.

    CONGRATULATIONS THERESA!

And now for the rest of the story...........

So now my son tells me he wants to join the Air Force. Whoa........ wait a minute here, what happened to my babies? One minute they were learning to walk and the next........ These are grown adults mind you and I am well aware of it,  I just don't want to let go. I think the AF would be a good thing though and if that's what he wants I will support him all the way.

I think he looks kind of good in uniform. Yes, I know this is from high school and yes, I know this isn't exactly what the Air Force has in mind. But it's as close as I can come. If he really does this, his life will be forever different too.........and I am proud as can be.

Happy Birthday to Louise, Rick, Fred, Gary, Annette and CeCe!

So, we are having so many birthdays in the next couple of months I don't know where to start. So far I have only celebrated 2 of them and I think I'm getting to old. But boy was last nights a lot of fun! We haven't been to a river party for a while, and it was great! Of course, it has taken me all day to feel that way.

Our party started off like this. The weather was 60 degrees and for January it was wonderful. It was a good day to get outside.

    003

And it ended up like this late into the night. Good music, good beer, good friends.

    012

Yes, those are authentic rough hewn logs and chinking, with a huge stone fireplace. What better place for a mid-winter party.

So I will try to get back to where I was and actually write something. I've been messing with Facebook lately and it's kind of fun but it really goes nowhere fast. I connected with a couple of poeple I still don't see, and I've been poking my kids, but overall there is really no place like Xanga.
